Legendary Band Directors of the Marching "Music Machine" Band
Mr. Robert A. Simpson
Mr. Robert A. Simpson, Director of Bands, Wilmer-Hutchins High School is the "Founding Father", creator, and innovator of the Marching "Music Machine"!!! He was the first African American to serve as Head Director of Bands in the Wilmer-Hutchins Independent School District. Before his retirement, Mr. Simpson, also affectionately known as "Simp", later became Director of Bands at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, TX. Mr. Simpson was writer and musician for Abnak Music Enterprise. His professional career began in 1966 as teacher of instrumental music at Frederick Douglas High School in Sulphur Springs, TX.

Mr. Billy Pruitt
Mr. Billy Pruitt, Co-Director of Bands, Wilmer-Hutchins High School
He served as the Co-Director of Bands with Mr. Simpson, as well as lead the Kennedy-Curry Middle School Band as Head Director. Mr. Pruitt later became the Head Director of the M3 Band, as well as Head Director of Bands at Skyline High School in Dallas.. |
Mr. LeManuel Williams, II
Mr. Lemanuel Williams, II server as co-director of bands at Wilmer-Hutchins High School from 2015-2018. He is a native of Dallas and graduate of Lincoln High School. Mr. Williams attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff receiving a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Music. He is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, LSO (Lone Star Order), TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) and DMEA (Dallas Music Educators Association). Mr Williams now serves as Head Director of Bands at Lincoln High School, Dallas, TX.
